“Why is all of this happening?”⠀ ⠀

Stopping dead in our tracks, he asked to be placed down on a conveniently located patio table, which was just chilling on the sidewalk like it belonged there.⠀ ⠀

“Seriously though, why has this year been so . . . rough? It seems like every month brings a new sensational headline. Like clockwork. What gives?”⠀ ⠀

Undeterred, and with significant twinkle in his eye, Peter spoke.

Peter’s response was lengthy, and went into great detail concerning our numerous blockbuster items of news.

COVID.
Natural disasters.
Kids in cages.
Political Insanity.
Murders in the streets.
BLM and various protests.
And whatever else is positioned to dominate headlines no matter how inane, i.e. Tiger King

He noted that this particular flavor of media had been picking up steadily over the past few years, starting with the nomination of Trump. Since that notable year, the news has been filled with increasingly bold subjects, each more extravagant than the last. Almost as if training the populace to accept any headline that might be thrown their way.

I nodded silently. It’s not like I haven’t noticed this. It seems as though everyone’s aware these days. Meme after meme on social media is more than happy to point out the erratic and gushingly dramatic tone of 2020, jokingly chalking it up to some manner of modern day Apocalypse.

So it’s not just me.

The world is aware that this year is unique.

While Peter’s answer gave me some satisfaction, it still didn’t get to the root of my question.

Yes, headlines have become increasingly strange in the past few years. Harder to swallow. More and more ridiculous – – – even silly.

Be that as it may, why now?

“You’re right Peter, it does seem like headlines have been ramping up in their intensity. But I still don’t understand why THIS year had to be it.”⠀ ⠀

Silence engulfed us both.⠀ ⠀

“I mean . . . it IS an election year. That’s something.”⠀ ⠀

Peter remained quiet.⠀ ⠀

With a desire to swing for the fences, I spoke boldly.

“It’s within the interest of the ruling class to display such headlines at a time like this, right? If people are frenzied, scared, a little hopeless, that means they’ll desire safety in the end.”

With no signs of slowing, I continued my rebellious streak of thinking.

“I have to wonder if it’s possible some of these events are manufactured — or warped enough to keep us bent out of shape. Eager to be saved.”⠀ ⠀

My mind whirled. Could that be it?

Could much of the media free-for-all be tied to this notion?⠀ ⠀

No. I was still missing something.⠀ ⠀

” . . . then again, maybe not. So much of the news coming out these days paints our leaders in a crummy light. It’s all about their failings, their clumsiness, their mistakes. Not only Trump is painted bad, Biden too. No one is made to look good. This blitz of high drama headlines seems to go beyond political parties. It just seems designed to feel . . . hopeless.”⠀ ⠀

My mouth went dry. It seemed we were back to where we started.⠀ ⠀

Indeed, by throwing headlines meant to spook and rattle people, it was possible that this was an effort to corral people towards desiring safety. Even at the cost of liberty. This, in turn, would affect the votes cast in an election. It would make the public more willing to accept a more authoritarian tone from its leaders.⠀ ⠀

If lives are on the line, we would bend over backwards if we thought it would help.⠀ ⠀

We’ll wear the masks. We’ll pledge allegiance to any movement that promises to accomplish something akin to our desires. ⠀ ⠀

We’ll trade anything to be considered a good person.⠀ ⠀

But it didn’t add up.⠀ ⠀

Who would benefit from such a set-up? Seemingly no one.⠀ ⠀

In fact, it seems like we’re ALL designed to lose.⠀ ⠀

To lose our jobs. Lose our homes. Lose our freedoms. Lose our lives.⠀ ⠀

Doom and gloom is seemingly the only goal of this year, were a “goal” even to exist.⠀ ⠀

Once again — why now?⠀ ⠀

If there’s a conspiracy afoot, I’m not seeing it.⠀ ⠀

Peter cleared his throat and spoke.

What has it been? Two months? Three? ⠀ ⠀

I honestly couldn’t tell you why I left our talk alone for so long.⠀ ⠀

Am I simply lazy? Unappreciative?⠀ ⠀

Or am I afraid?⠀ ⠀

Afraid of what I might hear?⠀ ⠀

Trying to make sense of all that’s happening, all these dark events. It would be so much easier if I could see it all as random. Chance. A common struggle we all face as a species, and something that can unite us. Strengthen our bonds.⠀

That explanation would be so perfect. Calming. Even heart-warming.⠀ ⠀

If there’s a chance that it isn’t random?⠀ ⠀

I don’t know what I would do with that. What can we do?⠀ ⠀

If our surroundings are composed of smoke, shadows and illusions, what effects can our actions have? Even my best intentions will be meaningless.⠀ ⠀

Wrestling with shadows will only serve to tire me out, and does nothing to serve the world.⠀ ⠀

If I don’t find out the truth, I’ll never be able to do anything real. Nothing of substance.⠀ ⠀

I’ll just do what people tell me to. I’ll be told what to think. I’ll believe what’s on the screens.⠀ ⠀

And they don’t seem to lead me anywhere good. ⠀ ⠀

It’s an endless loop of cartoonish drama, eager to soak every drop of peace and compassion from me. Until there’s nothing left.⠀ ⠀

That’s not the path I want to walk.⠀ ⠀

Alright Peter. I think I’m ready now.⠀ ⠀

What is REALLY going on in the world?⠀ ⠀

Why is this all happening? Why now? Why in this way?”⠀ ⠀

Dusting off his beak, Peter croaked a measured response.

Solar flares . . . ?⠀ ⠀

Hmm. Yes, I’ve heard a few things on the subject.⠀ ⠀

It was a Russian scientist who first shed light on this correlation. Alexander Chizhevsky. I remember him now.⠀ ⠀

“Chizhevsky proposed that not only did geomagnetic storms resulting from sunspot-related solar flares affect electrical usage, plane crashes, epidemics and grasshopper infestations, but human mental life and activity. Increased negative ionization in the atmosphere increased human mass excitability. Chizhevsky proposed that human history is influenced by the eleven-year peaks in sunspot activity, triggering humans en masse to act upon existing grievances and complaints through revolts, revolutions, civil wars and wars between nations.

“He analyzed sunspot records (and approximated records), comparing them to riots, revolutions, battles and war in Russia and seventy-one other countries for the period 500 BCE to 1922 CE — a process known as historiometry.

“He found that a significant percent of what he classified as the most important historical events involving large numbers of people occurred around sunspot maximum.”⠀ ⠀

Come to think of it, I did see some mention of a massive solar flare happening when the George Floyd riots began in earnest. It was lined up perfectly! It’s true!⠀ ⠀

Does this mean that the riots and protests were fueled by the sun’s activity? Is that what caused us to rise up and make a scene that touched the world?⠀ ⠀

Hmm. Wait.⠀ ⠀

“Wait one minute, Peter.”

Something doesn’t add up.

“I’ll admit, the biggest solar flare in three years lining up with the George Floyd riots is a fascinating notion.⠀

But it doesn’t line up perfectly.⠀

The original protests happened in Minneapolis on the 26th of May, a day after George died.⠀
⠀
Nationwide protests in larger cities happened on May 27th, including L.A., Memphis and Chicago. Come to think of it, I’m impressed all these people were able to organize so fast. BLM has an incredibly fast and tightly knit system, it seems.⠀

Sorry, getting distracted.⠀
⠀
May 28th brought the National Guard to Minneapolis, showing the world how serious these protests were getting.⠀
⠀
May 29th — the day of the solar flare — I remember very well.

I was at work outdoors, directing traffic as we adapted to the circumstances of COVID-19. A powerful rainstorm was raging, the wind was howling, and the protests in Seattle were flaring up to their peak. Many co-workers were sent home early so they could get there safely, since roads were being blocked and violence was picking up. Even with a raincoat and umbrella I found myself utterly soaked with rain as it blew at me sideways.

I recall the President making a comment that spooked a lot of people:⠀

“President Trump delivered an ultimatum to Minneapolis protesters on May 29 and suggested that the military could use armed force to suppress riots. On Twitter, Mr. Trump called the protesters “thugs” and said:

“When the looting starts, the shooting starts.”⠀
⠀
As you can see Peter, much had already happened a few days BEFORE the solar flare. It wouldn’t be correct to say that the flare caused any of this to happen.⠀
⠀
Still. The timing is very interesting.⠀
⠀
If George Floyd hadn’t been filmed with a cop on his back, squeezing the air out of him, then nothing of note would have happened.⠀
⠀
No riots. No protests. The flare would have came and went, and all we would have noticed was a general grouchiness and stupor — at most.

It’s proper good timing, really. If you wanted a nation to be at its most distraught, you’d want a traumatic event to occur alongside a disorienting celestial event like a solar flare. When we’re at our most irritable.

What an amazing coincidence for that event to happen just days before the flare. Just enough time for it to reach a riotous peak in our collective unconscious.

In fact it’s so utterly amazing . . .  it kind of defies belief.”⠀

“Look up . . . ?⠀ ⠀

Sure, the skies have been interesting as of late.⠀ ⠀

The biggest solar flare in three years was interesting enough. But now that I think about it, there’s been a lot of activity up there in space this past half year.⠀ ⠀

On March 27th we discovered a brand new comet, never before seen. It was named ‘NEOWISE,’ after the place that found it.⠀ ⠀

That is pretty amazing, actually. This year, of all years, a new comet suddenly shows up. We can go many generations before something like that happens.⠀ ⠀

And that wasn’t the end of it. Here’s another story about a “triple comet,” another unique astronomical occurrence. Another event that makes this year different than others.⠀ ⠀

Then there was that one week a substantially big asteroid passed us by. Little spooky.⠀ ⠀

I mean, sure, that’s interesting, but I don’t see how this has much to do with the state of the world. Is there something I’m missing, here?”⠀ ⠀

Peter pointed the tip of his wing at the sky and spoke once more.

“Eclipses . . . ?⠀ ⠀

Okay, that I can get behind.⠀ ⠀

There’s always been a sort of mainstream occult awareness about these events. A faint understanding that they ‘mean something’ energetically, and are a significant happening for those in witchy or magical circles.

Why? Most probably have no clue.

But you’ve seen at least one show or movie that has this mentioned alongside some ritual, occult event or world altering event. ⠀

Penumbral lunar eclipses? Those are a little rare I suppose. That doesn’t throw me too much. It was kind of cool how close it occurred to the solar eclipse, though. The lunar eclipse took place on June 5th, just a few weeks before the other . . .⠀ ⠀

Hm! Actually this is interesting. The solar eclipse took place on one of the most magical days of the year:⠀ ⠀

June 21st. The summer solstice. ⠀ ⠀

That is an incredibly rare coincidence! ⠀ ⠀

Witches and warlocks around the world must’ve had a field day.⠀

Right when the seasons shift from spring to summer, the sky shifts from light to dark. The last time we had an eclipse on the summer solstice it was 2001.⠀ ⠀

2001. What was unique about that year . . . ?⠀ ⠀

Oh yeah. Wow. That was 9/11.⠀ ⠀

Soon after that the endless wars and bombings in the Middle East began. All of it was accepted by our country because of this tragic event. One that ruled the headlines for months to come.⠀ ⠀

That’s some real food for thought, Peter!⠀ ⠀

This year is somewhat similar. Other traumatic events are taking place, such as the nonstop COVID developments and the clashes between BLM, protesters, police and so on. It’s not quite the same as blowing up the Twin Towers, but our nation feels similarly rocked right now.⠀ ⠀

Do you think we’re following the same pattern?⠀ ⠀

Are we being fed these events so that we, as a society, will accept ‘an evil path’ moving forward?⠀ ⠀

Will we create another war?⠀ ⠀

I have to admit — this is eye-opening. And I’ll admit, maybe just a little frightening. ⠀

It’s like all the stars and planets are aligning this year, am I right? Wild. The sky is just so busy. Will the Titans break free from the Earth now, like Disney’s Hercules? Uh oh! Hah.”⠀ ⠀

The planets are LITERALLY aligning?

Well then. It doesn’t get more obvious than that.

Something fishy is DEFINITELY up.

I’ll admit — I’m not all that savvy with astrology. I have no idea what it means when something is in “retrograde,” or what all these different configurations and labels mean for our 3D reality on Earth.

However — I do feel there is some significance to these giant celestial bodies in our solar system.

We humans like to believe that because these bodies are really, really far away they have no influence on their surroundings.

We believe this despite our knowing that gravity doesn’t really have a “range.” It stretches on forever in all directions — though it becomes stronger as you approach its source.

According to our most modern science we know for a FACT that these bodies bathe our planet in a cavalcade of gravitic fields. Of course there may be more at play than we can currently measure, but even with this one point of data it would be factually incorrect to say that these bodies have zero reach upon our world.

Who knows what other manners of energy they have sway in? Fields yet undiscovered, immeasurable by our most modern instruments.

And it’s not just that. I’m well aware of a universal quality we like to call “resonance.”

Certain objects, when properly placed, can resonate with each other. This creates an effect that is greater than the sum of its parts.

I’ve noticed this quality quite often with Aether devices. If I simply place a few on my desk and give them a little space, they create a unified field of sorts.

They hum together in unison, creating a complex and powerful amalgamation which has a greater effect on its surroundings.

Because of these observations I can therefore deduce — with some extrapolation — that there is indeed a significance to the placement of the planets and stars. How significant, I really couldn’t say.

But if there was ever a time that these qualities would be at their absolute strongest?

It would be when they’re in alignment. Bright and easily visible from the night sky.

Okay . . .

I can see that this year has a high potential celestial arrangement. Am I missing anything?”

I had no idea it was so stark an alignment.⠀ ⠀

After doing some research I found that this year is so very special when it comes to planetary alignments.⠀ ⠀

Not just one, not just two, not even three but FOUR different planets are aligning with each other this year. ⠀ ⠀

Completing their previous cycle, lining up with each other, then beginning an entirely new cycle — all within the borders of 2020.⠀ ⠀

Why is this not spoke of anywhere? Are we so proud of our Western ideologies and “modern science” that no one thought to speak up about these obscenely rare and notable planetary alignments?⠀ ⠀

It wasn’t even worth a mention?⠀ ⠀

I’m starting to think our media isn’t exactly interested in keeping us informed about 3D reality. Only the scandalous, hot button pieces of news — but not much more.⠀ ⠀

These pictures I’ve included mention something called a “synod.” The definition of a synod is a meeting or conjunction of different entities. In this case, two planets.⠀ ⠀

How are these planets meeting, exactly?⠀ ⠀

A synod, in this circumstance, means that two planets meet each other in their orbital paths relative to the sun.⠀ ⠀

I know, I know — sounds confusing. Check out the fourth pic in this post to see how a Mars – Jupiter synod would look.⠀ ⠀

But if I’m reading this chart right, this year is host to THREE SEPARATE SYNODS occurring one after the other.⠀ ⠀

Saturn and Pluto lined up back in January 10th.

I guess that would be around the time the COVID headlines began to choke up our airwaves, wouldn’t it?

Huh.

Jupiter and Pluto lined up back in July 31st.⠀ ⠀

And you know, it’s funny . . .⠀ ⠀

But around July 31st, I noticed a SIGNIFICANT increase in personal power. My abilities felt notably heightened, more far-reaching — I was on fire that day.

It felt great.⠀ ⠀

Is this what it means for us humans?⠀ ⠀

That these planetary alignments accelerate our growth?⠀ ⠀

I couldn’t say. But I can’t help but make a big, loud, painful laugh at the final synod of the year.⠀ ⠀

But for now we have a story to conclude.

If you recall we were smack dab in the middle of some of the most powerful celestial line-ups in the past millennium.

2020 was packed with an absurd amount of, well, absurdity. Every month had some wild news coming our way. Most of this we already covered.

But there was one more celestial event that we never discussed. And before I bring Peter the owl back in to close this conversation, I think we should take a look at it.

It all happened a few months ago on December 21st, 2020.

The winter solstice.

Beyond all the planetary synods and cycles ending/beginning, there was an incredibly potent winter solstice – – – the “star of Bethlehem” became visible as Jupiter and Saturn inched so close together in our night sky that they seemed to be a single entity.

Now check this out.

Soon after the solstice came and went I noticed a significant uptick of worried and distressed posting in various subreddits (of Reddit fame).

r/spirituality, r/mediums, r/energywork and so on had a surprisingly high number of people complaining of increased anxiety, sensitivity to others’ energies, and greater emotional turmoil.

It seems this solstice served as the “celestial cherry on top” for a year that was already jam packed. Its effects were pronounced enough to be noticed by large groups of people.

This is not something we can afford to ignore.

I feel we need to apply ourselves, observe what’s going on, note when and why we feel these shifts, and be proactive about what we can do to make this work FOR US and not AGAINST US.

But you know what? I can’t help but feel slightly responsible for this.

Some of these shifts, I personally pushed for.

The perfect alignment of these two planets was slated to happen in the morning for my region.

It was drizzling outside, so I went out in my umbrella, popped in some music, and attempted something bold.

Being an Aetherically empowered man, sometimes I find myself up to some feats that most would consider impossible.

Though in truth all I’m doing is a prayer.

Whether your game is praying, magick, meditation — there are certain times and places where you will have greater “reach.” Clearer reception.

Want God to hear you? The universe? Do it at a time of HIGHEST RESONANCE and a most CRYSTALLINE STRUCTURING.

When it comes to boosting our range on this Earth, the positioning of planets and stars can be quite helpful. Consider them to be the long, wiry antennas of an old television.

If they’re placed in a properly resonant way, you get optimal signal.

For those too young to have owned a TV like this, think satellite dish placement. Or maybe your Wi-Fi antenna?

Just like the planetary synods, I knew this date would be an important time to make my voice heard through the cosmos. So I breathed in deep, held my Aether and began to speak.

For this solstice I thought I would make a wish for the world. To open the eyes of everyone trapped in the illusion of mass media.

The media which tells you to fear. To distrust. To isolate. To hate.

Not only that, but the people who manipulate you on the sly. Those around you who spew endless negativity, are passive-aggressive and who give you every reason to doubt yourself. To blame yourself.

I made a wish to open your eyes to the truth.

Not just the truth of the world at large, but the truth of those around you.

Me? I find the truth freeing. No longer am I the hamster stuck running the wheel. I know what’s worth my time and focus. I don’t get trapped in people wishing only to waste my energy and bleed my emotions. I know to avoid dangerous situations. I know who’s worth my trust.

But others? You?

Are you sure you want to see the truth?

The truth isn’t comfortable. Because the world is SO NOT what it seems.

Well, whether or not my wish would make a difference, I wished for it as hard as I could.

I prayed not only for the world to see the truth — but to have the strength to bear it.

I have no idea whether my prayer had any effect on the world or universe. But I’ll tell you what.

Right as the planets were slated to line up for the solstice, and right as my wish was at its peak, I noticed the sky change.

The rain stopped. The cloud cover began to break. And blue erupted directly over my head.

I love when that happens.

Coincidence? Very possible.

Though even if my intentions only reached the ends of my skull, there was powerful energy flowing this day.

Here’s my theory.

Whether or not my prayer had its intended effect, I feel this solstice allowed a final surge of evolutionary energy for the planet. One last boost to top off the year.

When our planets and stars are tidy and aligned, energy flows through our solar system more cleanly. Remember those TV antennas I spoke of earlier? It’s optimal reception.

When crystalline energy flows strongly, we receive a little tune-up. We become more in touch with our subtle elements. Our higher selves. Our sixth senses.

We become more awake. More aware. More perceptive.

This means you got better at seeing energy. Feeling energy. Feeling the truth.

You’re going to see the truth of those around people. People who mystified or annoyed you somewhat — you’ll feel their cores. You’ll feel what’s going on behind the scenes.

And you’re not going to like how it feels.

N.O.Bs (negatively oriented beings) are far more common than you might think. Seriously.

Your society is packed with them.

If you notice that you’re less willing to be told what to feel or think by those around you, maybe you’re picking up on a hidden darkness? A hidden lie.

Your heart and intuition picks up on this, and you might experience it as anxiety.

Being overly perceptive can be a curse. Sometimes.

You might be spending more time alone now. Focusing on your own thing. You might think you’re getting out of touch. That you’re depressed or somehow broken.

That’s not the case, I promise.

You’re waking up.

The universe commands it.

To conclude this saga I’ve brought back our old friend Peter.

And after sharing a few final words with him, I think I understand it all now.

Why was 2020 such an oddball year?

From start to finish, it was so jam-packed with drama and utter insanity.

Tiger King was lauded to death on every social media platform. Almost a month was devoted to shining a light on that show alone.

COVID came next. Rampant political nastiness. Riots, murders, fires.

It was a never-ending stream of distraction. The bizarre and cartoonish. Anger. Fear.

How much of it was an orchestration?

2020 was a year where many celestial cycles drew to a close. Planets passed by each other and started a new cycle. One after another after another, all within months of each other.

If there was nothing to plague our minds or our hearts during this formative year . . .

What could have happened?

With all these cycles starting anew, and fresh cosmic energy channeling through our planet stronger than it has for almost a thousand years — what sort of new reality could we have experienced?

It could have been one that got us closer to enlightenment.

One where our perception and quickly achieved mastery of energy would allow us to heal ourselves and others.

We could have become instant “readers” of each other, as we would have become so in sync. So aware of ourselves and those around us.

It would have become so easy to tell the truth from a lie.

If there was nothing to distract us, that could have been our new world.

As you can see, this is not what happened.

Right at the very beginning we were bombarded with news designed to shock us and fill our minds with chatter.

This was no accident.

Our ruling class. Our content creators. Our kings of media, queens of influence — they did all in their power to ensure we had zero peace. Not a single moment to grow.

They bent over backward to reiterate the same messages. To joke, remix, poke fun at and regurgitate the same content from every angle. There would be no way for you to escape the narrative.

Last year cemented the notion in my head. One I had long suspected and now feels unavoidable.

The people who run our society were aware of this special year.

They are aware of energy, and were aware of our spiritual evolution.

If left alone we might have grown a little too strong — too aware — to be corralled as easily as before.

Who has both the power and the awareness to craft our society in such a way?

Freemasonry. Secret societies. The occult.

Old knowledge and old power is what pushes policy in the world. As it always has.

This is why our media is the way it is. It is a system which reflects what they would have us believe.

Reality? Not so much.

Rather than expand our consciousness, we had a very different reality forced into our heads.

We didn’t usher in our evolution.

We ushered in our prison.

Here’s the thing about spiritual evolution.

It’s yours. Personal. No one can steal it from you.

But you can be tricked.

You can be made to believe that choosing a world of fear, isolation and hatred is the only option.

Consider COVID.

You can be convinced that there is an invisible killer out there decimating populations — because your television displays a big number on its screen.

You can be led to believe that these deaths are the fault of your fellow humans. Humans are selfish. Humans are stupid. Humans are cold-hearted because they REFUSE TO OBEY.

You can be trained to spy on your brothers and sisters. Is that man down the aisle wearing his mask? No? Doesn’t he know he could kill someone? Lives are on the line. Report him. It’s life or death.

Someday soon you’ll be spying on everybody. Eager to tattle for the latest “cause.”

You can be taught to hate your fellow humans because they are not wearing masks. Yet 99% of people I see not wearing masks in places they’re required are N.O.Bs. They know full well what they’re doing.

They’re conditioning you to hate those who don’t OBEY. These are the sorts who stand too close to you. The sorts who are purposely aggravating, and who do their best to make your blood pressure rise.

You see them on social media. On the news. You see them gnash their teeth on camera, shout at people and be overall ghoulish.

These actors are then mocked by any given news source, and you are taught to despise those who do not OBEY.

You love seeing them get punished. That “justice” is served. This is, you guessed it, conditioning.

You’ll love seeing all rebellious thinkers stripped of their jobs. Mocked. Tortured.

There might be people out there who are waking up. They realize that much of what we see on TV is manipulation. Programming.

But what can they do? If you think the COVID narrative is full of holes, you’ll be ridiculed. And since a virus is involved, you’re now dangerous. You’re killing people by refusing to OBEY.

If you think our political skits are too cartoonish to be real, you’re off your rocker. Detached from reality.

If you think ANYTHING other than the narrative — you will be attacked.

What now?

I could be wrong.

Maybe 2020 was just a long, long list of coincidences. Accidental drama from start to finish.

If this list is entirely meaningless, and it just happened to line up with the most astrologically active year in nearly a millennium, I suppose there’s little you can do.

Listen to authority. Keep your head down. Stay safe.

We’re just humans bumbling around. The universe is random.

Then again — maybe I’m right.

Maybe a million things were thrown at you to keep you sad, scared, hopeless and confused.

In a year of such crystalline resonance and harmony, your wishes are at their most powerful.

You choose the timeline we share.

If the people in power knew this, they may have conned you into voting for their best interests. Real “generational magick.”

To not question. To obey. To desire safety and give up sovereignty.

These desires ultimately benefit the people in charge. Not you.

It’s not impossible to con a populace.

Start a riot or two. Film the angriest bunch of actors in an otherwise peaceful meet-up. Dramatic poses to grab the viewer. Fake a few murders for good measure.

None of this is out of reach for those in control of our leadership and media.

But you know what?

Despite the puppetries on your screen, this does not decide your fate.

It’s your heart.

Whether you’re told to feel afraid once, twice, or a hundred times a day — you’re not required to.

Being afraid won’t kill a virus. It won’t end racism. It won’t fix politics.

If I am told I have to wear a mask to enter a building of materialism and consumption, I suppose I will.

But I won’t obsess. I won’t fret. I won’t choke on it.

Your loved ones might grab your hand and look into your eyes, scared and bewildered. They’ll want you to join them. To shake your head in fear and disbelief.

Misery loves company.

You could parrot back their horror. It’s easy enough.

Or, with a heart full of love and understanding, you could say the following:

“It’s rough, I get it. I know. And I know that if it’s all I think about, I’ll be miserable. People around me will be miserable. All I can do is be my best and brightest self to everyone. To lead by example. To choose unity over division. And to avoid becoming a creature of hate, fear and division.”

It might be hard to say aloud. But it’s the truth.

There’s still time to choose how this world unfolds from here on out.

Will you flourish? Or will you flounder?
